Looking for a space for your book launch, theatre show, lecture, reading, performance, or workshop? You can rent our theatre!
about the space
Our monumental building in the heart of Amsterdam houses a black box theatre that comfortably seats 56 people. If needed, the seating can be expanded to 78 seats, or adjusted for smaller, more intimate set-ups.
availability
The theatre is available for rent on most days of the week:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday: until 23:00
- Sunday: until 19:00
We are closed on Mondays, and Fridays are generally reserved for our own programming.
rates
Rental is only possible per half-day (four hours). The basic rate per half-day is €500 (excl. VAT). This includes:
- Production assistance before rental
- Assistance from a technician during rental
- A listing on Perdu’s website (unless your event is private)
- Staffed bar
Note to theatre groups: Technical assistance is included only for the preparation and setup of your performance. Support during rehearsals or shows themselves is not part of the rental, as providing a technician for full productions would not be feasible within the current rate. If you need someone to operate lights, sound, or other technical elements during your rehearsal or performance, please plan to bring your own technician.
Note for book presentations: As a literary institution, we offer a reduced rate of €300 (excl. VAT) for a four-hour rental on condition that the books are sold by Perdu with the regular bookshop margin of 40% and that there is a reasonable expectation of good sales.

- A hearing loop (currently out of service)
- Wheelchair access via a ramp
house policy
We value being good neighbours. All renters are expected to follow our house policy, which is included in the rental agreement. Please:
- Be mindful of our neighbours
- Avoid loud music and amplified instruments
Failure to follow the house policy may lead to repercussions.
