Stichting Perdu receives four-year subsidy from AFK

Perdu will receive structural funding for the next four years! Last week we were informed by the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst (AFK) that Stichting Perdu’s grant application for the period 2025-28 has been honoured.

We are beyond happy and relieved to receive this news, as it means that we can keep on being one of the few experimental spaces dedicated to poetry, literature, and their crossovers with other art forms. Next to being able to continue our cultural programming as you know it, the AFK grant also provides us with the means to focus more structurally on activities in the bookshop and expand our talent development, among other things. While congratulating other literary, artistic, and cultural organisations that also got awarded the funding, we extend our thoughts to those who did not. Spaces for art and experimentation across the country are losing institutional backing, but have as such an even more urgent and critical role to fulfill. Let’s work together and support each other in every way we can.

“De commissie is overtuigd van de artistieke signatuur van Perdu. De organisatie staat voor poëzie, met een focus op experiment, expertise en interdisciplinair werken. Het is een volgens de commissie herkenbare signatuur die de organisatie al sinds jaar en dag voert en die telkens opnieuw wordt geladen. De commissie vindt vooral de focus op het experiment onderscheidend. Er zijn volgens de commissie geen andere organisaties in het Amsterdamse literaire veld die daar de nadruk op leggen, terwijl dit voor de ontwikkeling van de discipline en voor kunst en cultuur in het algemeen juist zo belangrijk is.”

“De commissie ziet . . . prikkelende voornemens met een link naar de actualiteit, waaronder programma’s over literair activisme vanuit een Afrofuturistisch perspectief, en over Palestijnse literatuur waarin het idee van een thuisland gevierd wordt, zelfs als dat imaginair is.”

“De commissie beoordeelt de bijdrage aan diversiteit en inclusie als zeer goed.”
