On May 10, poets and translators Mia You and Marwin Vos will lead a collective translation workshop at Perdu, centered on Autobiography of Death by acclaimed Korean poet Kim Hyesoon. Together, participants will explore translation not as a solitary transfer of meaning, but as a creative, communal practice: one shaped by shared attention, negotiation, and experimentation.
Through discussion and various translation exercises, the workshop invites participants to inhabit the text collectively, approaching language as something that can be re‑imagined and rebuilt in common. No Korean language knowledge is required; all linguistic backgrounds welcome, and a willingness to engage with the collective process.
The resulting collective translation will form part of Uitgeverij Perdu’s forthcoming translated publication of Autobiography of Death, scheduled for release this fall.
- Open to all languages, the language of instruction will be English
- Open to all professional backgrounds; no prior experience with (collective) translation required
