Tijdens deze workshop verkenden de deelnemers ‘afwezige plekken’: plekken die verborgen, vernietigd of tot zwijgen gebracht zijn – door politieke krachten, oorlog of simpelweg door tijd en verandering. Hoe manifesteert afwezigheid zich in onze verbeelding, en hoe blijven verloren plekken voortbestaan ​​in herinneringen, emoties, dromen en onze persoonlijke geschiedenis?

Do we stay who we are when we lose our spaces? And how will such a loss transform our personal identity? Inspired by Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space, poet and writer Asmaa Azaizeh created The Poetics of Absent Spaces.

Over the course of this workshop, the participants explored the absent spaces, those concealed, destroyed, or silenced, whether by political forces, by war, or simply by time and change. How does absence itself shape our imagination, and how do lost spaces persist in memory, emotion, dreams, and personal history?
